Stockade Fence

There are all different kinds of fencing, and all are able to do different jobs. Some are designed almost entirely for looking good, others for encouraging plants to grow over them and yet more are simply to designate boundaries.

The reason for this is simple – we use different fences for many different reasons, our needs and wants are many and varied. But if it is privacy you are after, and are looking to create that by using fencing, then the best type of fencing that you could want is a stockade fence.

Stockade Fence

A stockade fence dates back to colonial times where it was used, quite simply, as a stockade – to aid in defence. Things have changed considerably since then and the design has been tweaked in modern times… but it still has the history.

Nowadays the stockade fence is used primarily for privacy. The reason for this is that it is a very high style of fencing that has no gaps to see through – so you can be sure no-one is speaking through the fencing at you.

Reasons for Privacy

There are many reasons that you may want to use fencing, such as a stockade fence, for privacy in your garden.

If you have a pool or hot tub then it could be that you want privacy to use these. Many people don’t like to be spotted in their bathing suits to having a stockade fence giving them privacy to do so without risk of embarrassment is a very useful attribute.

For the same reason many people like to have privacy when sunbathing, if you wanted to do it with people watching you would go to a beach or park – not your own garden!

Security also plays a part in choosing a stockade fence – it ensures that no one wandering by can see what is ‘available’. Most crimes are crimes of opportunity so a stockade fence prevents the opportunity from being spotted by would be criminals.
